Balanced and Barefoot

There’s a newer book on children and outdoor play titled, Balanced and Barefoot, by Angela Hanscom dated April, 2016.

It follows the same fundamental thesis of the national bestseller, Last Child in the Woods, by Richard Louv in 2008.

The thesis is our children greatly benefit from unrestricted outdoor play threaded throughout their days.

Outdoor play increases health, coordination, attention, regulatory control, emotional safety and stability and cognitive development.

This book is easy to read with lots of examples and stories as well as clinical observation and statistical data.

It’s a really good read.

I recommend it for any parent who is contemplating solutions and strategies for boosting their child’s development.
